Omar's Exotic Pets

With the MOM's club, we took a field trip to a pet shop that specializes in exotic birds. They raise them from newborn babies and want the birds to be use to people. They don't have the birds in cages, they just have hanging perches around the store. They encourage you to come in, hold the birds and enjoy them. It was a very fun trip. Here are some of the highlights:

This bird got a taste of Abbie's chubby finger with her seeds. Abbie was feeding her and the bird accidentally caught some of Abbie's skin with the seeds. Abbie wasn't too sure about that...Luckily, Abbie bounces back quickly and was ready for more bird adventures...

For part of the time, Michael and Abbie were more interested in the bird "toy" wall than they were with the birds...

I love the expression on Abbie face when the bird started flapping her wings...She was excited!

This bird and Abbie are a perfect color match!

We all really liked this white bird. She was calm, very friendly and affectionate. The bird keeper said she was one of those birds that liked to cuddle on humans. Very high maintenance bird!

Abbie was brave enough to try and hold one of the smaller birds. She hesitated at first, but had a great time...until the bird crawled up her arm and started tickling her ear...Then she was done!

Here is Michael's dad, Kevin, holding a $12,000 dollar bird. The bird is only 7 months old and was just about ready to go to his new home in Las Vegas. This bird store has a reputation for raising healthy, well adjusted birds, so people from all over the country buy birds from them.

It was a great trip! We will definitely go back to Omar's Exotic Bird Store!
