Rescue Farm

A couple weeks ago, we went on a field trip to a rescue farm, just up the canyon from Mission Viejo. There is a really neat family that lives up there and they have made it their mission to rescue as many animals as they can. They adopt out the ones they can, but if they aren't eligible for adoption, they keep the animal themselves.

When we were there, they had about 26 dogs, lots of cats, several horses, mules, potbellied pigs, and other animals. All the dogs are free roaming and live in their home...It sounds crazy, but somehow it works for them. It was really neat to see. Here are some pictures of our experience.


These mules were found wandering around the canyon...someone had them in a really small space and overfed them. They had big pockets of fat from not being able to move enough. We were told it would take several years of a balanced diet and exercise for them to regain their normal body structure.

This little pony wasn't the nicest animal, but the kids were drawn to it because it was small "like them."

We plan on going back later in the spring and taking carrots for the animals. It was really a nice experience!
