San Diego Zoo

For Father's Day, we took a Saturday trip to the famous San Diego Zoo. Neither one of us had been there in awhile, so we were trying to get a lay of the land. The zoo has lots of neat animals and fun things to see.

Welcome to the ZOO!!!!


This is a really neat Orangutan/Ape exhibit. The apes are just on the other side of a glass wall that you can walk right up to. It makes you feel like you are part of their world. They are amazing creatures. Standing that close to them, you can see all their details (hands, fingers, nose, lips, eyes, etc...) Truly amazing!


Abbie stood there for a really long time, just looking at the apes groom each other and play around.

This bear had too much time on his hands...he was pacing back and forth, giving us a good show. Abbie thought it looked like he was "dancing"...

Is this a happy face or what?! We took a guided bus tour around the zoo and sat on the top of a double decker bus. Abbie was all smiles! The whole time we were up there, she was looking around and down at the people below and saying, "Hello everybody!" and waving down to them. Adorable!!!


The zoo has a new and very cool elephant exhibit. They have 8 elephants and they are just beautiful!

The Statue

Whenever we get down to San Diego, we always try to go to our favorite sea food restaurant, Anthony's. It is right on the water...the atmosphere is nice and the food is WONDERFUL!!! Because the restaurant is so popular, outside on the pier, are lots of street vendors and side shows. This statue is Abbie's absolute favorite. He stands there, still as can be, and then will move and scare the daylights out of people. It's great fun! Abbie always goes up to him and chatters away, and he finds pleasure is giving her a good show. Here are some of the highlights...

Even after Abbie gave him her "contribution" she wanted to sit on the curb and watch him...We have fun times in San Diego!

Mission Viejo Lake

We have a membership to the Mission Viejo Lake. We don't use our privileges as much as we should, but Mike's scout troop was going there, so Abbie and I decided to tag along. We had forgotten just how fun the lake could be! The water is shallow for quite a distance out, so Abbie felt like a big kid, venturing out. Here is our fun!


This is the face of water bliss...She can never play in water too much...Maybe in a previous life she was a sea creature...ha ha ha!


Notice her walking away from me toward the big kids...she is an adventurer!


She is a bold little lady...She had no problem seeing how far she could go out in the lake...Unfortunately, I wasn't really dressed for swimming and we didn't have her floaters, so she was limited to her chest and where I could reach her. Given the chance...I think she would have swam the lake!


After spending time in the lake, the kids came to the shore and continued construction on a "hot tub" that had been started by previous lake goers. Here is Micah (my friend Julia's son, who is a scout in the troop) and Abbie, making things deeper and better!

My friend, Tara, was there with her son (who is a scout) and her daughter Savannah. Both girls had fun in the man made "hot tub". Cutie pies!


It was a nice evening at the lake...It was a great reminder to visit more often and the fun we will have this summer!!!

Super Sonic

This evening we went on a family bike ride down to the new Sonic that opened. Everyone who is ANYONE has gone to the new Sonic...We were behind the times, so tonight was our big debut. We had fun! We got slush drinks and corn dogs...yummy!

California Adventure

On Memorial Day we decided to use our "bounce back" tickets and check out California Adventure. It was AWESOME!!! They had a whole Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "live" show which Abbie absolutely LOVED! Here are some of the highlights!

How Old Are You?

When asked how old she is, Abbie will hold up her two fingers and announce, "Abbie is 2 years old!" I love the chubby fingered, cute, adorable way she does it...Enjoy!
